Since 2015 Rob Hobkinson has worked closely with Jordan Smith as a key member of Team Smithy. Jordan’s team includes includes: Simon Shanks (Coach), Duncan Maxim of Hambric Sports (Manager) and his Caddie.
Rob is responsible for ensuring that Jordan is in peak physical condition to meet both the demands of the intensive European Tour schedule, and the demands of the game of golf itself. He works to ensure that Jordan's physical capabilities are maximised, giving player and coach a sound physical platform to develop his game and his technique unimpeded.
Jordan Smith turned professional in 2014 after a tremendous amateur career, including representing GB&I at the 2013 Walker Cup and winning the 2013 Brabazon Trophy.
In 2015, Smith won the PGA Europro Tour’s Order of Merit, which saw him gain promotion to the European Challenge Tour for the 2016 season.
Following his graduation to the Challenge Tour, Jordan went on to claim victory at the Red Sea Egyptian Challenge, the RAK Golf Challenge and with numerous other strong performances throughout the season, Jordan topped the Challenge Tour’s 2016 Road to Oman rankings.
Smith quickly settled into life on the European Tour, going on to finish 3rd at the 2017 BMW SA Open, which was just his third event of the year. Later on that season, Jordan picked up his maiden European Tour victory at the 2017 Porsche European Open, following a thrilling play-off with Alexander Levy.
Jordan’s victory in Hamburg saw him qualify for his maiden major at the US PGA Championship, where he went on to finish tied 9th, which was the highest placed finish of any European player that week.
Ending the 2017 season ranked 24th on the Race to Dubai rankings, it was a successful first year for Jordan, as he finished inside the top-ten on five occasions and made twenty-five cuts.
Jordan finished his 2018 season ranked 43rd on the Race to Dubai rankings, thanks to some excellent finishes throughout the year: Volvo China Open (T3), Sky Sports British Masters (T3) and the Italian Open (T8).
Playing on the European Tour in 2019, Jordan ended the year ranked 50th on the Race to Dubai rankings. This was having finished tied 3rd at the BMW International Open, solo 5th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, tied 5th at the Volvo China Open, tied 6th at the British Masters and tied 7th at the Maybank Championship.
2020 was another competitive season for Smith, where he finished the year ranked 61st on the Race to Dubai rankings, thanks to a tied 6th place finish at the Oman Open, tied 7th at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open and tied 13th at the European Tour’s Flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship.
